HANOI, June 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Some Vietnamese exports are now in the risk of being inspected for dumping, local newspaper Youth reported Tuesday.
Items with highest risks include textiles, garments, footwear, woodwork, rubber, farm produce and seafood, said local and foreign experts at a conference on anti-dumping issues co-organized by thecountry's Trade Ministry and the Australian government on Monday.
Even some local goods with small export values such as chemicals, plastic ware, electronics and mechanical products are also facing potential anti-dumping lawsuits, the experts said, advising local sectors to reassess their products' prices and competitiveness and set up information database for each item and each export market.
Vietnamese exports underwent a total of 18 dumping investigations between 1994 and 2004. Of the exports, eight, including catfish and shrimp, have been subject to anti-dumping tariffs.
The European Union has so far this year placed anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese fluorescent lamps and stainless steel fasteners. It is likely to impose an anti-dumping duty on imports of bicycles originating in Vietnam next month. Enditem |
