Jay Chow to hold concert in Beijing next month

BEIJING, June 28 -- Taiwanese pop singer Jay Chow would hold a concert in the Beijing Worker's Stadium on July 9, he announced at a news briefing Saturday in Beijing.

Chow said he would perform his new songs, including the ones from the current movie "Initial D."

The concert was sponsored by three companies, and free tickets could be obtained if fans bought any of the companies¡¯ products, the concert organizer said at the briefing. No tickets will be sold directly to the public.

¡°Due to the high cost of Chow's concert, we decided to let sponsors buy the tickets first so we could recoup our production costs in advance,¡± the organizer explained.

However, some fans seemed unhappy with the free tickets. ¡°Although the free tickets are very attractive, this way I can't buy front-seat tickets, because seats are now distributed randomly by computer,¡± said a female fan.

Another problem is that many people who may obtain free tickets are not Chow¡¯s fans, because anyone can get the tickets as long as he or she buys the sponsors¡¯ products. Last year in Wuhan, many audience members left before the end of the concert, which made the atmosphere cheerless.

Chow expressed his regret for this dilemma. ¡°I hope I can hold more concerts in the future to compensate my fans and at the concert on July 9, I will sing louder, so that those outside can hear,¡± he said.Enditem
