BEIJING, June 27 -- This year's university entrance examination score and
college admission results for Liaoning province's applicants were released on
June 26th. China's youngest examination taker - ten year old boy genius Zhang
Xinyang from Panjin - scored 505, more than 47 points over the admission
baseline of the province's second batch of admitted students.
Zhang Huixiang, father of the boy genius, said
that his son only put down Tianjin University of Technology and Education as his
desired school when filling out exam forms and did not apply to any other
school. Relying on the score he obtained from the entrance exam, young Zhang
should be able to attend the college of his choice.
Zhang is only 1.43 meters tall and appears thin and small in a crowd and
has a "baby" face. He was born on July 8, 1995 and should be at primary 4 level
according to normal schooling pace. Instead, he is the graduating class of
Panshan County's high school third year student.
Father Zhang explained that when his wife was pregnant, they began fetal
education by listening to music daily. When the toddler was learning to speak,
he began teaching him to recognize words. The son can read more than a thousand
words at two and more than two thousand words at five. In only two years, young
Zhang finished the entire primary education that normally takes six years for
the average child.
In 2002, young Zhang attended junior high and finished the entire
curriculum in two years and even learned all the high school material. In
September 2004, he skipped grades all the way up to the third grade of Panshan's
high school. After only one month of attending high school, he stayed home to
prepare for the examination and took part in this year's exam as a member of the
graduating class.
