KATHMANDU, June 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Anti-government guerrillas have bombed a
private boarding school in mid-western Nepal in a bid to close down the school,
but no casualties were reported.
M.M. Academy, the only private primary boarding school in Khalanga, the
headquarters of Salyan district, was bombed by a group of guerrillas, Mohan
Singh Thapa, principal of the primary school, told reporters on Sunday.
"The rebels bombed our school to intimidate us and close down the school,
since we defied their previous warnings," he said.
Though there were no casualties, there were some damages to twohouses and
other school property due to the explosion, Thapa said.
The school with more than 250 students has been closed after the explosion
and will only resume after holding consultations with the parents of the
students, he added.
The guerrillas' student wing has detonated bombs at several private schools
across the country to force them to close down from this new session. Enditem
