BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Wen
Jiabao met here Friday morning with Donald Tsang who had just taken oath of
office as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region
(SAR).
Premier Wen sent his congratulations to Tsang, and cited an old Chinese saying: "The task is arduous and the road
ahead is long" as an encouragement to Tsang. He expressed the hope that Tsang
will live up to the great expectations and high hopes of the mainland and the
Hong Kong people.
Premier Wen said he deeply believed that Donald Tsang
will earnestly implement the Basic Law of Hong Kong SAR and lead the HKSAR
government and the Hong Kong people to make fresh contributions to Hong Kong's
prosperity and stability.
Tsang showed his great thanks to the Central People's
Government's trust in him. He said it is his whole life's glory totake the post
as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, which gives him an opportunity to
better serve the Hong Kong people and the homeland.
He said he will spare no efforts for Hong Kong's
bright future and the happiness of the Hong Kong people. Enditem
