BRUSSELS, June 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Jordan will host the Fourth Donors Conference for Iraq in July, Jordanian Foreign Minister Farouk Kasrawi announced here on Wednesday.

"We stand ready to lend all possible assistance in different fields to Iraq, its people, and government," said Kasrawi when addressing the International Conference on Iraq, held here on Wednesday.

He said hosting such a conference is to "accelerate reconstruction efforts in Iraq."

He called on all ministers attending Wednesday's meeting to support the donors conference.

Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, whose country is holding the rotating presidency of the European Union (EU), told a press conference after the meeting that the donors conference will be held in Amman of Jordan on July 18-19 this year.

The meeting invited countries that have not yet pledged assistance to Iraq to join in to attend the donors conference, according to a final statement.

The meeting also encouraged the Iraqi authorities to develop further its priorities for external assistance in advance of the donor conference, said the statement. Enditem
