Israel continues raiding West Bank areas
www.chinaview.cn 2005-06-22 18:20:06

RAMALLAH, June 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The Israeli army continued on Wednesday storming Palestinian towns and refugee camps in the West Bank, Palestinian security sources reported.

The Israeli army escalation came one day after Palestinian officials said that the results of the summit meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday was less than expectations.

The sources said that more than ten Israeli military vehicles early Wednesday stormed the West Bank city of Nablus where the soldiers conducted house-to-house search in the area of Jabal Al-Shamali village.

Witnesses said that the soldiers stormed houses, and horrified sleeping residents, mainly children, adding that the soldiers arrested a 15-year-old Palestinian teen called Fathi Al-Aish.

They added that severe exchange of fire erupted between the Israeli solders and the militants, but no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, nine Israeli military jeeps stormed the nearby Balata refugee camp and stationed in several areas where they also clashed with Palestinian militants, according to witnesses.

They added that an old Palestinian woman was slightly wounded during the Israeli attack on the refugee camp. Enditem
