Beijing to adopt Euro 3 emission standards
www.chinaview.cn 2005-06-22 13:59:37

BEIJING, June 22 -- Beijing is preparing to adopt Euro three emission standards starting from July the 1st, and expects to adopt Euro four standards by the year 2008.

This according to the municipal Industrial and Commercial Bureau in a statement released Tuesday.

In order to meet stricter emission standards, environmental protection authorities in Beijing are planning to introduce measures to carry out checks on private cars in the Chinese capital.

Fuel producers are being encouraged to produce low-sulphur gasoline to meet these standards.

China is now the fourth largest manufacturer and the third largest consumer of cars in the world. Enditem
