TV station apologises to soaked Cruise
www.chinaview.cn 2005-06-21 15:23:00

When the actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced their engagement in Paris last week, the stage was set for a glittering London premier of Cruise's latest film last night. But waiting among 5,000 fans beside the red carpet in Leicester Square was a reporter armed with a water pistol.

Hollywood film star Tom Cruise (L) and US actress Katie Holmes smile as they arrives for the London premiere of Cruise's latest movie "War of the Worlds" by US director Steven Spielberg in London's Leicester Square, Sunday June 19, 2005. The film opens in cinemas on June 29. Cruise got engaged to actress-girlfriend Katie Holmes at the Eiffel Tower Friday, ending weeks of speculation over whether Hollywood's hottest couple would wed. He reacted angrily to the prank, repeatedly calling the man who soaked him a ˇ°jerkˇ±.
