"The stunt was intended to be light-hearted rather than
malicious and we apologise to Mr. Cruise for any offence that was caused," the
independent television station Channel 4 was quoted as saying
by TVNZ.
At the London premiere of Cruise's latest movie "War
of the Worlds" on Sunday, a reporter held up to Cruise's face a bogus microphone
and used it to squirt the star's face.
The Hollywood superstar Cruise lost his cool and said
forcibly: "You're a jerk... jerk... you're a jerk."
The reporter and the three members of his camera
crew, working on a new Channel 4 comedy programme, were arrested but later
released on bail. Enditem
