BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhuanet) -- The 22nd Congress on the Law of the World to be held in Beijing and Shanghai this September has attracted 31 foreign chief justices to attend, said the Chinese organization committee of the congress on Monday.
Statistics from the committee show that 47 high-ranking judicial officials from 37 countries, including Germany, Russia, France, Britain, Canada, Australia and Japan, have confirmed that they will participate in the September congress.
Among the 47 senior officials, 31 are chief justices and the other 16 are chief procurators, ministers of justice or grand justices.
The organization committee predicts that foreign participants will exceed 500 and elite in the law circle from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will also attend the congress.
The discussions at the congress will focus on 22 hot issues, such as "law, rule of law and court", "international cooperation on anti-corruption", "the status, role and reforms of the United Nations" and "human rights".
The Congress on the Law of the World, dubbed as Olympics in the law circle, is organized by the World Jurist Association. China held the 14th congress successfully in Beijing in 1990. Enditem |
