SINGAPORE, June 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Singapore deployed a KC-135 tanker aircraft to Iraq on Monday to support the multinational effort for the country's reconstruction, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defense.
With 35 personnel on board, the Republic of Singapore Air Force(RSAF) aircraft will conduct air-to-air refueling missions during its three-month deployment in the Gulf country.
This is the second deployment of a KC-135 tanker aircraft that Singapore has made to Iraq for the same purpose, said the Ministry,while the first detachment was in June 2004.
Since 2003, the Singapore Armed Forces has also deployed two Landing Ships Tanks (LSTs) and a C-130 transport aircraft for this effort. Enditem |
