CANBERRA, June 20 (Xinhuanet) -- An Australian hostage freed in Iraq last week has reunited with his family in Australia.

Douglas Wood, a 63-year-old engineer, and his wife arrived in Australian city of Melbourne from Dubai of the United Arab Emirates earlier on Monday, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio reported.

He was freed in a military action by the Iraqi and the US forces Wednesday after being held for 47 days by a group calling itself the Shura Council of the Mujahedeen of Iraq.

Upon his arrival at the Melbourne Airport, Wood paid tribute to his family.

"I love my family, and I knew that they'd be doing as much as they could to get me out," he told a press conference at the airport.

He said he feels good to be home, but he would consider returning to Iraq for further business, according to ABC radio. Enditem
