””WASHINGTON, June 16 (Xinhuanet) -- The White House on Thursday rejected a timetable for the US troops to withdraw out of Iraq andsaid this would be "absolutely the wrong message."

"It would be absolutely the wrong message to send to set some sort of artificial timetable. That would be the wrong message to send to the terrorists. It would be the wrong message to send to the Iraqi people. And it would be the wrong message to send to ourtroops," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said at a briefing.

"The president wants to see the troops come homes. But the bestway to honor the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform is to complete the mission," the spokesman said.

Nonetheless, McClellan acknowledged that the American people are concerned about the situation in Iraq.

Recent polls have shown a majority of Americans wants to see atleast a partial withdrawal of US forces in Iraq and the support for the Iraq efforts is declining in the United States. Enditem
