Sony Ericsson launches new mobile phones

    SINGAPORE, June 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Sony Ericsson, a world leading provider of mobile multimedia devices, announced its global launchof four new models of mobile phones here on Monday.

    Designed to support the growing third generation (3G) UniversalMobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Sony Ericsson K608 is a sleek device that weighs the same as the existing 2G phones, much lighter than other bulky 3G handsets.

    Being a phone when it is vertical, K608 can also be used as a fully featured 1.3 Megapixel camera when it is horizontal with a 4X digital zoom and a 32 Megabytes memory.

    For daring fun-seekers, the Sony Ericsson S600 offers extensivefeatures such as two stereo speakers, media player, Internet browsing, horizontal full screen video and three-dimensional games,as well as 1.3 Megapixel camera with 64 Megabytes memory.

    "The phone will appeal to young adults with busy social lives and a desire to express themselves in multiple ways," said Jan Wareby, Corporate Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing of Sony Ericsson at the launching ceremony.

    The company also unveiled the Z520 model, a mobile phone that wraps multiple high-tech features inside a sleek and stylish body,targeting fashion-conscious female consumers.

    Other new products included an entry-level mobile phone model Sony Ericsson J210, a personal computer card that combines 3G broadband with wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi), as well as accessories using bluetooth technology including a headset and a car handsfree.

    Most of the products will be commercially available in the third or the fourth quarter of this year, but the prices have not been set yet, according to the company. Enditem
