YANGON, June 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Death tolls resulted from a series of three bomb blasts in the capital of Yangon last month have risen to 23, Myanmar Minister of Home Affairs Major-General Maung Oo disclosed Sunday.

Twenty-one others are still hospitalized, Maung Oo said at a press briefing.

In the May 7 bomb explosions taking place within 10 minutes at the Yangon Trade Center and two shopping centers -- Junction-8 andDagon Center, 11 were killed and 162 others injured, according to the death tolls disclosed by the authorities on the day of explosion.

Four anti-government organizations in Myanmar -- the Kayin National Union (KNU), Ywet Sit-led Shan State Army (SSA), Kayinni National Progressive Party (KNPP) and expatriate Sein Win-led National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB) -- have been charged by the government with planting the time-bombs.

The government has also charged an unidentified superpower nation with being behind the blasts.

It has offered a cash reward of up to 10 million Kyats (about 10,000 US dollars) for information leading to the exposure of the bombers.

So far, no arrest has been made, but hot pursuit is underway, the minister added.

Ever since the bombing incidents, the Myanmar authorities have tightened security measures on government offices, hotels, supermarkets and public areas across the country, keeping the highest alert. Enditem
