MOSCOW, June 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Russia's fifth-generation fighter jets, which
are being developed, will test-fly in 2007, Air Force Commander-in-Chief
Vladimir Mikhailov said Wednesday.
The development of the fifth-generation fighter jet is proceeding strictly as scheduled,
Mikhailov was quoted as saying by the Itar-Tass news agency. He gave no details
of the new jet.
Speaking about the Air Force's aircraft fleet, Mikhailov said: "The Air
Force receives planes in sufficient numbers. There are aircraft at the reserve
bases, too."
"We are also receiving new planes, including the Su-34 and Su-27SM, and
others are still being tested. There is nothing we can criticize these planes
for," Mikhailov said.
Russian presidential adviser Alexander Burutin told reporters that 60
percent of the Air Force will be upgraded with new aviation technologies by
2012.
"A new armament program has been developed and we shall achieve this goal
by 2010-2012," he said. Enditem |
