JOHANNESBURG, June 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A body part fell from the wheel well of a South African Airways (SAA) plane coming in for landing on Tuesday at New York's John F Kennedy Airport in the United States and ended up in a suburban backyard.

South African Press Association quoted Tony Ciavolella, a spokesperson for the port authority of New York and New Jersey, as saying more remains were found on the plane after it had landed.

Police suspect the remains were of a male stowaway and the case was being investigated, the spokesperson said.

Police in Long Island's Nassau County also received a call about a body part found in the backyard of a house. It apparently had hit the roof of a garage and bounced to the ground.

The flight had originated in Johannesburg, but made one stop in Dakar, Senegal.

SAA's Onkgopotse JJ Tabane said they were working with the airport authorities in both the US and Senegal to investigate the matter.

He said passengers had not been in danger at any stage. Enditem¡¡
