KATHMANDU, June 7 (Xinhuanet) -- The anti-government guerrillas on Tuesday released eight security personnel, including three soldiers and five policemen, who had been kept in their captivity for the past one month.
According to a statement issued by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) here Tuesday, the captives have been received by the ICRC representatives in Panchthar district, some 300 km east of Kathmandu.
"All the released security personnel have been handed over topolice authorities in Biratnagar city, the largest industrial city in eastern Nepal," Giuseppe Pogliari, an ICRC officer based in Kathmandu, said in the statement.
The guerrillas had captured the security personnel during an encounter with the security forces on May 8 in the eastern district of Siraha. Enditem
