RAMALLAH, June 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is most
likely going to appoint Farouk al Kadoumy, director of the Political Department
of the Palestine Liberation Organization, as his deputy, Palestinian sources
said Sunday.
The idea of appointing a deputy was raised after Abbas underwent a heart
surgery in Amman, Jordan last week, the sources said.
Abbas apparently healed a rift with Kadoumy over a number of issues during
Abbas' recent visit to Tunisia, where Kadoumy is based.
Meanwhile, Abbas said the idea of appointing a vice-chairman of the
Palestinian National Authority is being mulled by some institutions, while
welcoming the idea and seeing it as necessary. Enditem |
