HARARE, June 2 (Xinhuanet) -- The first session of
the Sixth Parliament of Zimbabwe will open next week on Thursday following
aproclamation by President Robert Mugabe.
According to the proclamation published in an Extraordinary Government Gazette released on Wednesday, the
first session of the Sixth Parliament of Zimbabwe will begin on Thursday at 12
midday at Parliament Building.
Following the swearing-in of Members of Parliament
shortly after the 2005 general election held on March 31, Parliament had
adjourned to the end of this month.
However, in terms of the Constitution, the sessions
of Parliament shall be held in such place and begin at such times as the
president may, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, fix when it is
expedient that the National Assembly should be summonedto meet. Enditem
