www.chinaview.cn 2005-06-01 05:30:57

PARIS, May 31 (Xinhuanet) -- French President Jacques Chirac said Tuesday evening that employment will be priority of the new FrenchPrime Minister Dominique de Villepin's governmental action.

In an address carried live by French radios and televisions some hours following De Villepin's nomination as new prime minister, the French president said "the priority of the governmental action, for the service of the French people, is obviously the employment. It needs a national mobilization".

He also noted that the mobilization would not be the Anglo-Saxon style, nor a synonym style of immobilism. "It's a style based on dynamics and individual initiative, on solidarity and social dialogue," he said.

Concerning fight against unemployment, the only criterion is efficiency.

On the basis of a separate calculation used by the International Labour Organisation, the unemployment rate in Francewas steady at 10.2 percent of the population. Enditem
