BEIJING, May 31 -- US President George W. Bush remembered his country's war dead at Monday's Memorial Day ceremony at the country's most revered military burial ground.

"We must honour them by completing the mission for which they gave their lives by defeating the terrorists, advancing the cause of liberty and building a safer world." Bush said.

At Arlington National Cemetery, Bush cited letters from some service members who have died in action in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In reference to the wars in the two countries, Bush noted that the nation is "fighting a new war."
