ˇˇNEW YORK, May 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The US dollar jumped to seven-month high against euro Monday after French voters rejected the European Union constitution in a referendum.
The euro was traded at 1.2483 dollars at 12.50 p.m. in London, sharply lower than 1.2584 dollars late on May 27 in New York. The euro might further fell to 1.2450 dollars in the next few days, according to some currency analysts.
Many economists also believed French rejection of the treat would hamper integration of the region's economies, weighing on the 12-nation currency.
Meanwhile, the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) lowered euro-zone economic growth from 1.9 percent to 1.2 percent for 2005. But OECD raised this year's growth forecast for the US to 3.6 percent from 3.3 percent. Enditem
