MOSCOW, May 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Power supplies in some parts of Moscow which experienced blackout on Wednesday will resume in fullby 2 p.m. Moscow time (1000 GMT) on Thursday, acting Moscow Mayor Vladimir Resin was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying on Wednesday.

"It is necessary to restart 14 compressors that will feed air into the substation's energy system. This will take about six hours," Resin said, adding that one more hour will be necessary inorder to resume electricity supplies to the power mains.

He promised that electricity supplies will resume to all vital facilities in the city within hours, adding that the city may have big problems if Mosenergo (power utility) fails to resume electricity supplies in full by Thursday afternoon.

An accident in the power grid of the city and region of Moscow on Wednesday left 34 districts without electricity but power supplies have been resumed for 14 of them, Interfax quoted Russian Emergencies Ministry spokesman Viktor Beltsov as saying.

Mosenergo power utility specialists are doing urgent repairs atthe Chaginskay transformer substation that caused the power blackout after a bad fire on Wednesday morning.

According to Interfax, the CEO of Unified Energy System of Russia (UES) will be summoned for questioning by Prosecutor General investigators over the power failure soon.

Meanwhile, RAO UES chief Anatoly Borisovich Chubais does not deny his fault in what happened and has announced he is ready to assume responsibility for it, said the report.

Official spokesman for the Prosecutor General's Office Natalia Vishnyakova said because of the massive power outages in Moscow and other areas, prosecutorial agencies have instituted a criminalcase against Chubais that alleges negligence and abuse of authority. Enditem
