    ULAN BATOR, May 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Mongolia's General Election Committee Monday declared candidate of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) Nambaryn Enkhbayar as the winner of the presidential election held Sunday.

    The following is the profile of Enkhbayar.

    Born in Ulan Bator in 1958, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Literature in 1980 and also studied at the Leeds University in North England.

    He worked for Mongolian Writer's Union from 1980 to 1990 as translator-editor, secretary general and vice president. He had translated classic Mongolian epics and works of several western writers including Charles Dickens.

    Enkhbayar was elected member of the state Great Hural (parliament) in 1992 and served as minister of culture from 1992 to 1996. On July 26, 2000, the Great Hural unanimously elected him asprime minister.

    He became chairman of the Mongolian parliament in 2004.

    Enkhbayar joined the MPRP in 1985 and is the chairman of the party. Enditem
