DHAKA, May 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Another ferry with 150 passengers sank near the Aricha terminal in the river Jamuna during a storm that lashed many parts of Bangladesh Tuesday and many persons were missing, officials in Dhaka said.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority officials said the ferry ML Raipura was coming to Aricha, 80 km west of the capital, from Kazirhat.

Officials quoting sources at Aricha said many passengers swam to safety as the ferry went down near the ferry terminal, but they fear some passengers were missing. They could not immediately confirm any death in the accident.

Officials here said they have dispatched some diver and a rescue teams to Aricha.

Meanwhile, a ferry accident in southern Patuakhali district on Sunday killed 78 people. Many people were still missing in that accident.

The ferry that sank in Ptuakhali also during a storm was lifted by a rescue vessel Monday night. Enditem
