KABUL, May 16 (Xinhuanet) -- An Italian woman working for an international relief agency was kidnapped on Monday by armed men in the center of Afghan capital Kabul, officials said.

The woman was forced into a white Toyota car by four gunmen at about 9 pm in Kabul's Shahr-e-Naw district, a senior official of Afghan Interior Ministry Gen. Mahboubullah Amiri said.

Embassy and officials from the international aid agency CARE later said, the woman named Clementina Cantoni is 32 years old Italian and working for CARE.

Remnants of Taliban whose regime was ousted in late 2001 have intensified their activities since the onset of spring in this mountainous country, and have several times warned to kidnap the foreign workers in Afghanistan.

A rocket fired from unknown place on Saturday night hit Afghan capital but left no casualties.

In another terrorist attack, a UN worker from Myanmar was killed and five injured on May 7 in a bomb at an Internet caf in Afghan capital. Enditem
