KABUL, May 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Three persons carrying bombs and explosives were arrested by Afghan police in Sorobi district, 60 km east of Kabul on Saturday afternoon, officials said on Sunday.

"Afghan police arrested three persons, including two Afghans and one Pakistan citizen, carrying four remote control bombs and one bag of explosive powder after fire fight," Lutfillah Mashal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior Affairs told Xinhua.

These arrested persons acknowledged that they wanted to attack on International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and American forces on their way from Kabul to eastern city of Jalalabad, Mashal said.

Last week, police in Paghman district of Kabul found about 1,000 kg of explosives, which would be used to disturb and damage the place, the spokesperson added.

Remnants of Taliban whose regime was ousted in late 2001 have intensified their activities in the country since the onset of spring.

A rocket fired from unknown place on Saturday night hit Afghan capital but left no casualties.

In another terrorist attack, two Afghans were killed and five injured on May 7 in a bomb explosion at an Internet caf in the capital Kabul. Enditem
