In a 5-year Action Plan for Freedom, Justice and
Security launched by the EU' executive on Tuesday, the EC pledged to develop an
integrated management of external borders and a common visa policy over the next
five years.
"One of the most tangible achievements will be the lifting
of internal borders of the ten Member States that joined the (European)
Union in 2004: the freedom of movement will become a reality for all
Union citizens," said a press release issued by the EC.
Currently citizens from the EU's 10 new member states still need a visa if they visit an old member states of the EU, due to the fears of large-scale of work waves and immigration waves as a result of zero border, a policy conducted in most old member states. Enditem |
