BAGHDAD, May 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A suicide car bomb detonated at the river police headquarters in southern Baghdad on Tuesday, wounding a policeman, witnesses told Xinhua.

The attack took place at around 11:15 a.m. (0715 GMT) when a suicide bomber blew up an explosive-laden vehicle outside the river police base on the bank of the Tigris river in Baghdad's southern Jadriyah district.

"I saw a speedy vehicle dashing into the fence of the police headquarters and then a powerful explosion occurred, sending a plume of black smoke into the sky," said Salahudin Ibrahim, awitness.

A policeman was wounded, he added.
