Suicide car bomb kills 3 in southern Baghdad

    BAGHDAD, May 9 (Xinhuanet) -- A suicide car bomb exploded on Monday in southern Baghdad, killing three Iraqis and wounding nine others,an Interior Ministry official said.

    The bomber drove an explosive-laden vehicle to two police cars forming a checkpoint at an intersection in the southern district of Saydiyah, the official said, adding two policemen and one civilian were killed and six policemen and three civilians wounded.

    The two police vehicles were destroyed in the attack. Earlier, a police source said 10 Iraqis were killed, including nine policemen.

    Iraq has witnessed more than 20 suicide attacks since the transitional government was approved in late April. Enditem
