ISLAMABAD, May 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Renowned Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), on Saturday urged the international community to work for fast development in Afghanistan to pave the way for the return of millions of Afghan refugees still living in Pakistan.

Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad at the end of her four-day visit to Pakistan, she called the world community to helpPakistan lessen burden of more than 3 million refugees still living in this country.

The Oscar-winning US actress Angelina Jolie Friday met President Pervez Musharraf and the two discussed the fate of millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

She said she found during her visit to few refugees camps in Pakistan that majority of Afghans want to go back, but she was notin favor of fast repatriation process as the development in Afghanistan is not sound.

A recent census jointly conducted by Pakistan and the UNHCR showed that more than 3 million Afghans are still living in Pakistan after war forced them to flee their native land.

According to UNHCR, some 2.3 million Afghan refugees have been repatriated since 2002.
