Khamenei warns against "enemies" attack on Iran
www.chinaview.cn 2005-05-06 20:13:22

TEHRAN, May 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Iranian Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned that any attempt of attack on Iran will "cost dear", the official IRNA news agency reported on Friday.

"The enemies know that they will have to pay a high price for any military invasion against Iran and will take such wishes to the grave," Khamenei was quoted as saying.

The Iranian leader made the warning on Thursday in a speech at a morning parade of armed forces in the southeastern province of Kerman.

Khamenei said that leaders of the global arrogance, a nickname Khamenei uses to term the United States, were afraid of the firm determination of the Iranian nation and the armed forces to defend the country.

Stressing that the Iranian armed forces would always be ready to thwart threats against the country, Khamenei cited the "sacrifices of the armed forces in the eight-year war with Iraq".

"The Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, the armed forces, the Basij (Iran's militia force) and the police shoulder the important responsibilities to provide such a basic national requirement," he added.

Iran has been confronted with the military threat of the United States and Israel, who have repeatedly claimed that they will launch attacks upon Iran's nuclear facilities to prevent the country from building nuclear weapons. Enditem
