LONDON, May 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The families of British troops killed in Iraq marched on Prime Minister Tony Blair's office Tuesday, demanding a public inquiry into the legality of the war.

    The protest came as the mother of a British soldier who died in Iraq on Monday blamed Blair for her son's death.

    Ann Wakefield, whose son Anthony Wakefield, 24, was killed Monday after being injured by a roadside bomb in the southern Iraqi city of Al Amarah.

    "I felt Tony Blair lied to us and only went to war to cement his place in history," she said.

    Blair, who is seeking a re-election on May 5, has come under heavy criticism for leading Britain to war in Iraq.

    "We have had inquiry after inquiry. I most certainly do say we do not need to go back over this ground again and again. I'm afraid it is not sensible to carry on going over this." Blair said in an interview with Channel 4 television when asked about today's calls for a public inquiry from families of servicemen killed in Iraq. Enditem
