BEIJING, May 2 -- General Leon LaPorte, commander of the United States Forces in South Korea says any US military action against North Korea will be agreed with South Korea first.
Attending the inauguration ceremony of a National Assembly forum on security issues in Seoul, Leon Laporte said the U.S. administration would inform the South Korea government of any plan for military action against the North before implementing it.
LaPorte also said that the U.S. has no intention of conducting a "preemptive strike" against Pyongyang. He said the Bush administration's stance is to resolve the standoff over North Korea's nuclear weapons program through dialogue.
