BEIJING, May 1 -- Kuomintang spokesman Chang Jung-kung has called on Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian to resume dialogue with the mainland.

Chang made the call at a press conference on Sunday in Shanghai. The official said that as an opposition party, the Kuomintang is doing its best to lay the groundwork for the irreversible trend of peaceful development across the Taiwan Straits.
