Five Iraqi policemen killed in Baghdad attack

    BAGHDAD, May 1 (Xinhuanet) - Five Iraqi policemen were killed at a checkpoint in Baghdad early on Sunday, police said.

    Some 30 insurgents attacked the checkpoint near a military college that now serves as a camp for US troops.

    Insurgents have stepped up their attacks around Baghdad since the formation of the new Iraqi government on Thursday.

    Three car bombs rocked the capital on Saturday, killing four people and wounded 16 others.

    A series of car bomb explosions hit Baghdad on Friday, killing more than 30 people and wounding about 100 others. Enditem
