GAZA, April 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Polls released on Saturday showed that the dominant Fatah movement is standing well ahead of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the coming Palestinian legislative elections slated for July 17.

The latest polls conducted in the Gaza Strip and the West Bankby Beir Zeit University's polling center showed that 41 percent of respondents supported the ruling Fatah movement while 23 percent supported Hamas.

Seven percent would vote for the left-wing bloc and 29 percent remained undecided.

Nadder Sa'eed, director of the developing studies at Beir Zeit University said considering the large percentage of undecide dvoters it was too early to say who will win.

"This means that no one can guarantee, even the current polls, who will be a winner in the coming legislative elections," Sa'eed concluded.

The polls were conducted between April 21 and April 23 andincluded a sample of 1,200 people located in 75 towns in the WestBank and Gaza Strip. The marginal error was 3 percent.Hamas, an Islamic group bent on the destruction of Israel, has decided to stand in the legislative elections, the first time inits history.

Outperforming Fatah in the latest municipal elections, Hamas has posed a grave challenge to the long-ruling movement now led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Enditem
