BEIJING, April 29 -- Sudan has accepted logistic support from NATO to help the African Union (AU) mission in Darfur.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail confirmed this on Thursday. He said AU Chairman Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo discussed the issue with Sudanese President Omar el-Bashir.
Ismail said the AU demanded NATO's logistic support after the Sudanese president agreed.
But he renewed Sudan's refusal to any existence of non-African forces in Darfur.
The AU Peace and Security Council on Thursday approved boosting the Darfur mission from 2,200 to more than 7,700.
