PRAGUE, April 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Czech President Vaclav Klaus has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Stanislav Gross and will nominate a new premier later on Monday, Klaus' spokesman PetrHajek said.
Under a deal signed last week by Gross' Social Democrats and their coalition partners, the Christian Democrats and the Freedom Union, the three-party coalition government will be re-formed under Jiri Paroubek, deputy chairman of the Social Democrats.
Hajek said Paroubek would come to Prague Castle, the presidential palace, at 2:00 p.m. (1200 GMT) to discuss with the president details in forming the government.
Gross, 35, had led the government since last July and he resigned amid a political crisis erupting earlier this year when the former prime minister could not explain how he paid for his luxury apartment.
According to Czech constitution, the president appoints the new prime minister who forms the government and submits it for presidential approval. The new government then requires approval in the lower house of the parliament within 30 days. The 18-member government will only have four new faces. Enditem |
