BEIJING, April 23 -- The Marbury outbreak in Angola has been brought under control.
Angola's Health Ministry and World Health Organization (WHO) released a joint statement late Thursday saying that the Marburg virus has been confined to Uige province.
No cases outside this northern area were reported for four days in Angola.
Deputy Health Minister Jose Van Dunem said none of the four provinces of Kwanza Norte, Kwanza Sul, Zaire, Cabinda or the capital Luanda had reported any new cases.
The latest update from WHO pegs the number of diagnosed cases in the outbreak at 266, with 244 deaths.
