Cambodian King leaves for Beijing to see his father

    PHNOM PENH, April 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni left here on Saturday for Beijing to visit his father, retired King Norodom Sihanouk, who is there seeking medical treatment.

    Former King Sihanouk has made a routine medical examination in Beijing. He left the country on January and planned to return home before Khmer New Year, but postponed due to his health.

    It will be an informal, simple family visit, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, half brother of the King, said on Thursday. Ranariddh, also president of the National Assembly said that his father's health had weakened these days.

    The 82-year-old Sihanouk gave up the throne to his son Sinamonilast October. The former King suffers from diabetes and has had colon cancer. Enditem
