Japan's textbook revision not in interest of entire region: Singapore

    SINGAPORE, April 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Japan's recent approval to the revision of a new history textbook is not in the interest of the entire region, a spokesman of Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

    "It is unfortunate that the textbook authorities in Japan had chosen to approve this rather strange interpretation of the Pacific War in Asia," the spokesman said. "History should not be denied."

    Noting that the action has strained relations between Japan and its neighbors, the spokesman urged countries concerned to "keep emotions in check and work toward a solution." Enditem
