www.chinaview.cn 2005-04-21 16:23:19

ISLAMABAD, April 21 (Xinhuanet) -- The second Kashmir bus with 24 passengers Thursday left Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-held Kashmir, according to the News Network International.

The bus rolled from Muzaffarabad for Chakothi, a town along the Line of Control (LoC), in the morning and the passengers were set to enter the India-held Kashmir at noon by crossing the Chakothi Bridge on LoC, from where they would go to Srinagar through another bus.

Of the 24 passengers on the bus, 10 are from Pakistan-held Kashmir and 14 are passengers of the first bus from Srinagar who returned to India-held Kashmir.

The Indian government has permitted 47 persons from Pakistan-held Kashmir to travel by the bus. However 37 of them postponed their travel.

The first Kashmir bus linking Muzaffarabad and Srinagar, capital of India-held Kashmir, started on April 7.

Resuming bus service in Kashmir is an important part of the confidence building measures taken by Pakistan and India. During asummit meeting in New Delhi at the weekend, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh agreed to also begin truck service across the LoC to increase trade.
