NEW DELHI, April 21 (Xinhuanet) --Several passengers were killed in a train accident Thursday morning when Sabarmati Express collided head on with a goods train near Samaliya village in Vadodara district of Gujarat, NDTV India reported.

Not more than 20 people have died in the collision, NDTV India quoted railway officials as reporting.

Eight bodies have been recovered from the site so far, while nearly 50 people have also been given first aid and dispatched to their homes, the report said.

Ambulances rushed to the site where at least seven bodies are reported to have derailed.

A disaster management team has rushed to the site and relief operations are on.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi told NDTV India that the government had mobilized relief.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is also on his way to the accident site, said the report. Enditem
