Palacio sworn in as new president of Ecuador

    QUITO, April 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Ecuadorian Vice President Alfredo Palacio was sworn in Wednesday as new president of the country, after the congress sacked President Lucio Gutierrez.

    Ecuador's Joint Chief of Staff, Victor Rosero, Wednesday announced that the military withdrew its support from Gutierrez. Enditem
