WASHINGTON, April 19 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States will host the annual summit between the United States and the European Unionin Washington in June, the White House announced Tuesday.

"This year the annual US-EU summit will take place in Washington, President Bush will host the summit on June 20," the White House said in a statement.

"The United States and the European Union have an important andexpanding agenda of global cooperation. The president looks forward to this opportunity to discuss our transatlantic agenda with European Council President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso," the statement said.

The United States and the European Union hold a summit each year to review the state of relations between the two sides.
