LONDON, April 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Latest opinion polls commissioned by Britain's newspapers show the Labor Party still in the lead in the country's general election campaign.

A poll for the Daily Telegraph showed Monday that Labor has a support rate of 36 percent, three points higher than the Conservatives, while the Liberal Democrats have reached their highest ever pre-election support level of 23 percent.

Another poll for Monday's Daily Mirror said Labor enjoys a 41 percent support rating, eight percentage points ahead of the Conservatives, while the Liberal Democratic Party is running at 20 percent.

A survey conducted for the Sunday Times, however, put Labor almost neck-and-neck with the main opposition Conservatives at 36 to 35 percent, with the Liberal Democrats' rating rising to 23 percent.

Analysts here predict Labor will win the May 5 election and stay in power with a majority in the range of 60 to 158 seats if the current support ratings remain unchanged. Enditem
