Nepalese guerrillas bomb school, 3 injured

    KATHMANDU, April 18 (Xinhuanet) -- The anti-government guerrillas on Sunday night bombed the biggest school in Nepal's mid-western city of Nepalgunj, police said Monday.

    Detaining the guard of the Jaybageswori Higher Secondary Schoolin the largest city of western Nepal, a group of guerrillas entered the school premises at 8:45 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Sunday, a local police officer told reporters.

    "They planted a powerful bomb targeting the school's science laboratory," they noted, adding that six classrooms, 18 computers and the laboratory were destroyed by the explosion.

    However, there is no report of casualties in the incident so far. Enditem

    KATHMANDU, April 18 (Xinhuanet) -- At least three children were severely injured Sunday at in a bombing incident triggered by the anti-government guerrillas in mid-western Nepal, police said Monday.

    A group of guerrillas entered the Bal Kalyan Primary School at Khara area of Rukum district while classes were being conducted, a local police officer told reporters.

    "The bomb suddenly exploded as it was being lobbed out of the classroom," the officer said on condition of anonymity.

    The injured students are undergoing treatment at Bheri Zonal Hospital in Nepalgunj city.

    Security sources said the guerrillas are targeting villagers and school children after they suffered heavy casualties in a 15-hour long battle with the security forces on April 7 in Khara area,over 400 km west of Kathmandu. Over 150 guerrillas and three security personnel were killed in the incident. Enditem
